Steve McCarthy - A Ward Ballina

DECLARATION

  • I am dedicated to promoting the infrustructure that nurtures businesses, jobs, leisure, safety for you and your family.

  • I will continue to promote and protect the identity of our unique shire.

  • I will continue to support volunteers, sports clubs, service clubs, veterans, fire-brigades, the arts community, surf clubs, board riders ect.

Hi, I’m Stephen McCarthy, a current councillor of Ballina Shire Council and a proud resident of the Ballina Shire for the last 50 years. My family and I were the proprietors of McCarthy’s bakery in Ballina and the Alstonville Village for many years – many of you would have known our family, eaten our pies and bread. My 45 years of experience in local business and 8 years representing the people of Ballina, together with my recent completed Bachelor of Internet Technology, equip me to assist the community in going forward.

I have a passion for team sport and in 2021 my Ballina Breakers Team (basketball) won the Northern Junior League. I also achieved my previous election goal, the successful construction and management of the Ballina Indoor Sports Centre (BISC) for our shire athletes.

I gain enormous enjoyment and satisfaction engaging with people, by listening and seeking all the facts before decisions are made.

I will always strive for a better balance between the built and natural environments ensuring that we are able to maintain our North Coast lifestyle.

I am totally committed to our community and have no allegiance to any political or other party.

I will always strive to ensure that Ballina Shire Council is fair and accountable to our community.

My eager desire is to serve our community, collaborating with my fellow Councillors to protect our assets and financial security, our people, activities, and our wonderful environment and lifestyle.

Thank You
